Chewie is back!

Filming for J.J. Abrams’ ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ has already started and according to The Hollywood Reporter, another original Star Wars character will be returning. Peter Mayhew, who played the big walking carpet in the original Star Wars trilogy, will be reprising his role as Chewbacca. That makes him the second confirmed character, alongside R2-D2.

Mayhew had recently canceled an upcoming appearance at Texas convention Comicpalooza “due to filming,” and many fans speculated that he would return as Chewbacca. They were right.

Still no confirmation if Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Billy Dee Williams will indeed reprise their original Star Wars roles.

‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ will hit theaters December 15, 2015.
