
The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that six-time Tony winner Audra McDonald is in final talks to star in the upcoming Disney’s live-action adaptation of ‘Beauty and the Beast.’ McDonald will play Garderobe, the French word for wardrobe.
McDonald has won Tony Awards for her performances in Porgy and Bess, Master Class, Ragtime, Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill, A Raisin in the Sun, and Carousel.
McDonald will star opposite Emma Watson as Belle, Luke Evan as the boorishly handsome Gaston, Dan Stevens as the Beast/Prince, Josh Gad as LeFou, Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts and Kevin Kline as Belle’s father, Maurice.

According to Disney, “The beloved tale will be retold for the big screen with a modern live-action lens and the help of transformative CG magic.”
