Peter Capaldi will make his first ever debut at San Diego Comic-Con in Hall H at the ‘Doctor Who’ panel. Alongside co-star Jenna Coleman (Clara Oswald), Michelle Gomez (Missy) and producers Steven Moffat and Brian Minchin.

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Capaldi confessed that he’s “very nervous” about standing in front of 7,000 people. “Don’t think I’ver ever stood in front of 7,000 people in my life. But if 7,000 people want to see us, it would be rude not to turn up.

BBC has revealed a first look, via EW, at Peter Capaldi as the Doctor in Series 9. Capaldi told EW that the photo above “shows the Doctor about to make a mistake that has cataclysmic repercussions.”

Capaldi teased about what fans can expect from the Series 9 two-parter premiere. “It places the Doctor in a conflict that is central to his being, as well as containing some subtle tributes to the ’60s, and truly wonderful guest performances.”

Missy is back in the Series 9 two-parter opener, ‘The Magician’s Apprentice’ / ’The Witch’s Familiar.’ Capaldi revealed that “Missy is more magnificently bad than ever before.” But Missy is not the only threat to the Doctor. “There is an epic sweep to this season and I think the villains and monsters reflect that”, says Peter. “Great new ones, brilliant old ones, and some very scary creatures looming in stories with real emotional ambition.”

One of the guest stars I’m looking forward to in Series 9 is ‘Game of Thrones’ star Maisie Williams. On working with her, Capaldi said, “Maisie is fantastic. A sharp, talented tornado. As an 18-year-old, she has taught me many new words and expressions. All I’ll say about her character is she shifts in cosmic ways.”

‘Doctor Who’ Series 9 will return to BBC One this autumn.
