Ed Sheeran Lands Role on Kurt Sutter’s ‘The Bastard Executioner’

According to The Hollywood Reporter, award-winning artist Ed Sheeran has landed a recurring role on Kurt Sutter’s upcoming series ‘The Bastard Executioner,’ billed as “a blood-soaked medieval epic that tells the story of a 14th century warrior whose life is forever changed when a divine messenger beseeches him to lay down his sword and lead the life of a journeyman executioner.”

Sheeran is set to play the character of Sir Cormac, “an ambitious and deadly protégé of a high-ranking church elder.”

Sheeran has collaborated with Sutter before, as he recorded a version of Foy Vance’s “Make It Rain” for ‘Sons of Anarchy’ penultimate episode.

‘The Bastard Executioner’ was created by Kurt Sutter, who will serve as Executive Producer along with award-winning producers Brian Grazer, Francie Calfo and Paris Barclay. Sutter wrote the script for the pilot of The Bastard Executioner, which was directed by Barclay.

Stars: Katey Sagal, Lee Jones, Stephen Moyer, Flora Spencer-Longhurst, Kurt Sutter, Sam Spruell, Darren Evans, Danny Sapani, Timothy V. Murphy, Sarah White, Sarah Sweeney, Elen Rhys, Ethan Griffiths and guest star Matthew Rhys.

‘The Bastard Executioner’ will begin airing in October 2015 on FX.
