“Why did I take up stealing? To live better, to own things I couldn’t afford, to acquire this good taste that you now enjoy and which I should be very reluctant to give up.” – John Robie
Here’s the latest screen print release from Dark Hall Mansion and artist Laurent Durieux. A beautifully elegant poster for Alfred Hitchcock’s romantic thriller “To Catch A Thief.” Check out the press release below.
Dark Hall Mansion, under license from Paramount Pictures and the Alfred Hitchcock estate, will release the Master of Suspense’s 1955 romantic thriller that finds Hitchcock exploring the rarefied world of the French Riviera via his traditional themes of the ‘wrong man,’ duality of identity, romantic entanglement and its inherent cost, and of course, the role of law and the individual.
DHM welcomes back artist Laurent Durieux who has created an elegant, dynamic, and restrained print worthy of the film’s thematics and legacy. A lovely Durieux story print, Laurent has set up not only Hitchcock’s tension inducing composition questioning who is really ‘the cat,’ but beautifully rendering one of Hitchcock’s most famed romantic visual send-ups, “To Catch a Thief’s” classic fireworks scene, by elegantly referencing and abstracting both his leading lady and the jewels that so intricately frame this Hitchcock film.
