Nostalgia time!
Another great writing prompt. What TV shows did you watch as a kid? Where do I even begin?! The list is very long. I’m a child of the 80s and 90s. I truly believe that we had the best cartoons and TV shows, imo. From He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, ThunderCats, Transformers, Voltron, Full House, Saved By The Bell, TMNT, to X-Men: The Animated Series.
I remember my brother and I would race home after school just in time to watch The Disney Afternoon program in the 90s. I mean, forget about homework. For us, it was all about the cartoons.

But by far, the good old days were Saturday mornings. Waking up early in the morning, grabbing our favorite bowl of cereal and plopping down in front of the TV in our pajamas all morning.
So let’s hop into the time machine and travel back to the 80s and 90s, and reminisce on what TV shows I watched as a kid.
Cartoons:
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (1983-1985) and She-Ra: Princess of Power (1985)
By the power of Greyskull! I mean, who didn’t want Battle Cat as their sidekick? Plus, She-Ra was my introduction to female superheroes before Wonder Woman. I remember my parents buying me the action figures. Orko was the smallest one, so I would carry him around everywhere I went.
Rainbow Brite (1984-1986)
I remember loving Starlite, the Sprites, and Lurky (because he was funny looking).
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987-1996)
My brother and I were obsessed with TMNT. We had the action figures, plush toys, bedding, VHS from Burger King, etc. It’s also one of the reasons why my brother got into martial arts. TMNT still holds a special place in my heart.
X-Men: The Animated Series (1992-1997)
Growing up reading comic books, X-Men was my jam, so when this series came out it was golden. I can still hum the intro song. Sweet music to my ears.
ThunderCats (1985-1989)
Thunder. Thunder! Thundercats, Ho! I remember Lion-O and Cheetara being my favorites. This is one show that I need to revisit.
Captain Planet and the Planeteers (1990-1996)
Earth, Fire, Water, Wind and Heart. Loved this show! There was always a lesson to learn from each episode.
Batman: The Animated Series (1992-1995)
Besides Michael Keaton being my Batman, there was Kevin Conroy. I don’t think my brother and I missed an episode when it aired. I still need to purchase the boxset.
TV Shows:
Who remembers TGIF on ABC? From Full House, Family Matters, Boy Meets World, Perfect Strangers, Dinosaurs, Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper, Step by Step to Clueless. The lineup never disappointed.

Highlander (1992-1998)
I had a crush on both Adrian Paul and Stan Kirsch. Rest in peace, Stan. I remember the show would air on Saturday evenings. I would drive my mom crazy because I would tell her that we would need to be home on time to watch it.
Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987-1994)
My mom is a Trekkie. She introduced my brother and I to the world of Star Trek. My first introduction to the series was TNG and as they say, the rest is history.
Blossom (1990-1995)
Whoa! Can’t say I didn’t watch the show because of Joey Lawrence. 😉
Saved By The Bell (1989-1993)
“When I wake up in the morning. And the alarm gives out a warning. And I don’t think I’ll ever make it on time“
Now you have that song stuck in your head. You’re welcome! Zack, Kelly, Jessie, Slater, Lisa, and Screech. Sweet childhood memories.
Well, I’m going to keep this list short. Not going to lie, I can’t remember half of the shows I used to watch. 😂 I might need to rewatch some of these shows. See if they still hold a soft spot. 😊
