Today, we say goodbye to comedy legend Harold Ramis.
Ramis died earlier this morning from complications of autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis, which is a rare disease that involves swelling of the blood vessels, his wife Erica Mann told the Chicago Tribune.
Ramis was best known for directing “Caddyshack,” “National Lampoon’s Vacation,” “Stripes,” “Analyze This,” and “Groundhog Day.” He also played the role of Egon Spengler in “Ghostbusters.”
RIP Harold.
“First and foremost, you have to make the movie for yourself. And that’s not to say, to hell with everyone else, but what else have you got to go on but your own taste and judgment?” – Harold Ramis
Update: Bill Murray has released a statement to TIME:
“Harold Ramis and I together did the National Lampoon Show off Broadway,Meatballs, Stripes, Caddyshack, Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day. He earned his keep on this planet. God bless him.”
