Actor Mehcad Brooks (Necessary Roughness, True Blood, Desperate Housewives) has been cast as James “Jimmy” Olsen, Kara’s love interest, in CBS’ upcoming series, ‘Supergirl.’ Brooks joins Melissa Benoist, who plays Kara Danvers/Supergirl.

Olsen’s character based on the DC Comics character. Here’s the character description:

“A smart, worldly photographer for CatCo, the media company where Kara works. He has recently been living and working in National City, though the reason is still a secret, and his salt-of-the-earth nature quickly piques Kara’s interest.”

Based on the characters from DC Comics, the project, from Warner Bros. TV, studio-based Berlanti Prods. and writers/executive producers Greg Berlanti (The Flash, Arrow) and Ali Adler (Glee, The New Normal), centers on Kara Zor-El (Benoist). Since arriving on Earth, the Krypton-born Kara has been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin, Superman. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. 

‘Supergirl’ is expected to premiere later this fall.
