“There is no crime in Paradise.”
Here’s the first trailer for the upcoming movie, ‘Child 44.’
I know this is not a geeky movie, but I adore Tom Hardy, Jason Clarke, and Gary Oldman. The trailer was released a couple of days ago, but I am now seeing it for the first time.
The movie, directed by Daniel Espinosa and produced by Ridley Scott, is based and first novel in author Tom Rob Smith’s trilogy about a disgraced MGB agent Leo Demidov, who investigates a series of horrific child murders during Joseph Stalin’s reign of the Soviet Union.
The movie stars Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises, Mad Mad: Fury Road) as Demidov, Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows) as Raisa, Joel Kinnaman (“The Killing,” RoboCop) as Vasili, Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) as General Mikhail Nesterov, Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, Terminator Genisys) and Vincent Cassel (Black Swan, Trance).
In addition to the trailer, Summit Entertainment also released the first official poster and stills. Which you can see below!
Official Synopsis:
A politically-charged serial killer thriller set in 1953 Soviet Russia, CHILD 44 chronicles the crisis of conscience for secret police agent Leo Demidov (Tom Hardy), who loses status, power and home when he refuses to denounce his own wife, Raisa (Noomi Rapace), as a traitor. Exiled from Moscow to a grim provincial outpost, Leo and Raisa join forces with General Mikhail Nesterov (Gary Oldman) to track down a serial killer who preys on young boys. Their quest for justice threatens a system-wide cover-up enforced by Leo’s psychopathic rival Vasili (Joel Kinnaman), who insists “There is no crime in Paradise.” Summit Entertainment presents in association with Worldview Entertainment a Scott Free production, a Daniel Espinosa film.
