That title’s got you curious huh!? FANTASTIC! A lot of posting happens on this website and GiGi and I sure LOVE what we do here. One of our favorite things is supporting people/places/ideas that we think are awesome…What I am about to share with you is no different.
It’s just over a month into the new year and already I have met some pretty cool people. Regis O’Wow is one of the coolest. This guy (and some of his friends) have had the BRILLIANT idea to start (here in our great city of Charlotte, NC) a bookstore/tavern. Yes, you read that correctly…books, beer…what could be better!?
With the growing popularity and success of crowdfunding (or as I like to call it fan funding), Regis has decided to kick off a campaign to help this dream become a reality. Why don’t I let him take it from here…
Doesn’t it sound like the best thing ever? I think so. As a matter of fact, I learned of this project the day after I was thinking to myself “I really wish there was a place I could go read/write/blog that was different/comfortable, where I fit”. WOW sounds like the kind of place I was looking for!
I’ve was fortunate to catch wind of this before it started and have to tell you that the passion Regis has for creating a place that serves the geek community in way such as this has me unable to stop talking about it. I, personally, am all about community. Purchasing a book, a beer, watching the tele or playing games are great but wouldn’t those things be even better with a more personal touch added? I think so! Have you ever been to a coffee shop and been given the evil eye after about an hour or two (you purchased a coffee but are finishing your book)? That happens on a weekly basis to me. I’ve been craving a place where pulling up a chair, a book and a pint are encouraged, haven’t you? Not to mentioned the other geektastic things Regis has in store for us at Worlds of Wonder.
So, my fellow geektastic Charlotte (and surrounding) people, follow the link once more and let’s do this! You and I both know that gatherings are nothing new for us, but having a place that is prepared to welcome at this EPIC level IS.
Worlds of Wonder, Charlotte needs to happen. Won’t you help “make it so” 😉
