Update! Asa Butterfield Reportedly Cast As The New Spider-Man

According to Latino Review and Umberto Gonzalez, after a long search, the 18-year old British actor Asa Butterfield (Hugo and Ender’s Game) is in final negotiations with Marvel and Sony to play the new Spider-Man. Butterfield will make his onscreen debut as Spider-Man in ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ currently in production, followed by a solo Spider-Man movie on July 28th, 2017. Marvel and Sony have yet to confirm.

According to Justin Kroll from Variety and Borys Kit from THR, Asa has tested, but other actors are still testing. Asa is still high on the list.

As I can see Mr. Kit has already explained on the SPIDER-MAN front no offer out yet, Asa tested but actors are still testing

I do know that Asa along with Tom had test offers negotiated before they read at all

The way a test offer works is the studio negotiates with each actor testing so that once a choice is made no negotiating is needed
