‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Sequel Title Revealed

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Writer and director James Gunn has officially revealed the title for the sequel to last year’s Marvel Studios cosmic adventure, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.’ The sequel will be called ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.’

Gunn posted on his Facebook page, “Kevin Feige recently let the title slip while doing Ant-Man press, which I’m really happy about because God knows I’ve let more than one thing slip accidentally while chattering away on this FB page. Also, hats off to some intrepid fans who figured out the title a couple of days after I posted the cover page. More than one person guessed ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2′ – I wanted so badly to give you props at the time, but knew I had to wait.

Gunn himself came up with the title, “I came up with a LOT of titles for Vol. 2. But because “Guardians of the Galaxy” is already so wordy, it seemed strange to add another bunch of words after it. I liked Vol. 2 the best, so that’s what I stuck on the cover of the screenplay – and, fortunately, the guys liked it.”

Directed by James Gunn. Stars: Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Vin Diesel as Groot (voice), Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon, Michael Rooker as Yondu Udonta, Karen Gillan as Nebula and Sean Gunn as Kraglin Obfonteri.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ to be released on May 5th, 2017.
