According to The Hollywood Reporter, actress Jenna Dewan-Tatum (Witches of East End, Step Up, American Horror Story) has been cast in the recurring role of Lucy Lane on CBS’ upcoming DC Comics series ‘Supergirl.’

Lucy is described “as brash, funny and as beautiful as her older sister Lois Lane, Lucy is strong, smart and successful in her own right. She’s got a history with Jimmy Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) and she’s come to town to right a previous wrong.”

Dewan-Tatum will make her first appearance in the third episode of the show.

Lucy Lane was first introduced back in the Silver Age, where she worked as both a flight attendant and an air traffic coordinator. She also initially served as a sometimes love interest for Jimmy Olsen, so her “history” on the show with Brooks’ Olsen isn’t all that surprising. However, she’s probably best known to DC Comics fans as the most recent iteration of Superwoman. In pre-New 52 storylines, Lucy obtained powers similar to a Kryptonian by wearing a mysterious suit.

Synopsis:

SUPERGIRL is an action-adventure drama based on the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist), Superman’s (Kal-El) cousin who, after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decides to finally embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. Twelve-year-old Kara escaped the doomed planet Krypton with her parents’ help at the same time as the infant Kal-El. Protected and raised on Earth by her foster family, the Danvers, Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster-sister, Alex (Chyler Leigh), and learned to conceal the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin in order to keep her identity a secret.

Years later at 24, Kara lives in National City assisting media mogul and fierce taskmaster Cat Grant (Golden Globe Award winner Calista Flockhart), who just hired the Daily Planet’s former photographer, James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), as her new art director. However, Kara’s days of keeping her talents a secret are over when Hank Henshaw (David Harewood), head of a super-secret agency where her sister also works, enlists her to help them protect the citizens of National City from sinister threats. Though Kara will need to find a way to manage her newfound empowerment with her very human relationships, her heart soars as she takes to the skies as Supergirl to fight crime.

Stars: Melissa Benoist as Supergirl, Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen and Lauren Benanti as Kara/Alura Zor-El, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Chyler Leigh as Alexandra “Alex” Danvers, Jeremy Jordan as Winslow “Winn” Schott, David Harewood as Hank Henshaw, Dean Cain, Helen Slater and Peter Facinelli as Maxwell Lord.

‘Supergirl’ will premiere on October 26th at 8:30-9:30pm before it moves to its primetime 8-9pm time slot on November 2nd.
