Variety reports that French actor Vincent Cassel (Child 44, Partisan, Ocean’s Twelve and Thirteen, Eastern Promises, Black Swan) has been tapped to play the villain in the next installment in the Jason Bourne film franchise.

His exact role is unknown at this time, but Variety reports that he will play an assassin tracking Jason Bourne.

Cassel will star alongside Matt Damon, as well as actress Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina) and actor Tommy Lee Jones are officially on board. Julia Stiles is also set to reprise her role as Nicky Parsons. 

Paul Greengrass is back to direct and writing the screenplay with Christopher Rouse. Frank Marshall will return as producer for the film with Damon, Greengrass, Jeffrey Weiner and Greg Goodman also producing. Christopher Rouse and Henry Morrison will serve as executive producers.

‘Bourne 5′ is set for release on July 29th, 2016.
