According to Deadline, my boy Theo Rossi (Sons of Anarchy, Cloverfield) has been cast to play the villainous Shades (a.k.a. Alvarez) in the upcoming Marvel’s third Netflix series ‘Luke Cage.’

His character is described as being “relentless and menacing, smooth and manipulative, street smart and controlling.”

‘Daredevil’ star Rosario Dawson will be reprising her role as Claire Temple. Claire is Luke Cage’s love interest in the comics, but is unclear if she’ll play a similar role on the series. Both Colter and Dawson will also appear in Marvel’s second Netflix series, “Jessica Jones.”

Rossi and Rosario join a cast that already includes Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Alfre Woodard as Minetta (a powerful local politician who carries a big role in Luke Cage’s life). Cheo Hodari Coker will serve as showrunner for the series.

In ‘Luke Cage,’ Colter plays Cage, a wrongly accused man who, granted super-strength by a sabotaged experiment, escapes prison to become a superhero for hire.

‘Luke Cage’ is expected to arrive on Netflix in 2016.
