Actor Woody Harrelson (The Hunger Games, Zombieland, True Detective) has been reported to play the human villain in Matt Reeves upcoming ‘War for the Planet of the Apes.’

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Harrelson is set to play a character called The Colonel, not much more is known about his character. Plot details are being kept under wraps for now.

Harrelson joins a cast that includes Andy Serkis as Cesar and Gabriel Chavarria.

Director by Matt Reeves (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) and screenwriter Mark Bomback will both be returning for the next installment of the franchise, with Chernin Entertainment and Dylan Clark producing.

‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ is set for release on July 14, 2017.
