Charlie Brown: “What an independent dog. He comes and goes as he pleases, but I have to stay home and fix his supper.”
Dark Hall Mansion, under license from Peanuts Worldwide, will release Tom Whalen’s charming and evocative print for the 1972 Charles M. Schulz full length film classic, “SNOOPY COME HOME.” As usual, artist Tom Whalen’s exceptional skills enable him to render “Snoopy Come Home’s” emotionally charged story arc beautifully. We find everyone’s favorite beagle torn between his love for Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang and his love and sense of obligation to Lila, a little girl who’s ill, in the hospital, and…Snoopy’s original owner!
Tom movingly renders key moments such as Charlie Brown’s reading of the devastating note that Snoopy must leave to return to Lila as well as the charming and humorous antics that ensue along Snoopy and Woodstock’s journey, all strikingly composed as Tom fractures the visual plane to represent the emotional divide as Snoopy is, literally, caught at this heart wrenching bend in the road. But of course all ends well with Snoopy’s return with “Snoopy Comes Home’s” beautiful final reunion scene as Snoopy, Charlie Brown, and the entire Peanuts gang realize exactly the unparalleled place Snoopy holds in their, and all of our, hearts.

Linus: “You bought Snoopy in the month of October, right? According to the records at the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm, Snoopy was bought by another family in August. This family had a little girl named Lila. Snoopy and Lila loved each other very much, but then they moved, and the family decided they just couldn’t keep Snoopy so they returned him. [pause] You got a used dog, Charlie Brown.”
