Movie Stills Roundup: Ghostbusters, Jason Bourne, Pete’s Dragon & Star Trek Beyond

Entertainment Weekly have released a couple of new stills from their Summer Movie Preview, featuring new stills from Ghostbusters, Jason Bourne, Pete’s Dragon and Star Trek Beyond.

Ghostbusters:

Speaking to EW, Kate McKinnon discusses her character’s role. “She’s in charge of inventing all the cool stuff. The proton wand is undergoing a constant evolution. That’s her role, to perfect these machines. She’s obsessed with coming out with different doodads and improving them. I think my colleagues and I would agree that the proton wand was near and dear to all of our hearts. They were very close to us the whole time, on our backs.”

Ghostbusters

‘Ghostbusters’ hits theaters on July 15th, 2016.

Jason Bourne:

“It’s the kind of action sequence you can only see in a Bourne movie,” returning director Paul Greengrass told EW. “It marries action with a really intense, emotionally truthful next chapter in the Jason Bourne story.”

Bourne reunite with sympathetic spook Nicky (played by Julia Stiles). “Life out in the cold isn’t working for either of them,” Damon told EW. “Nicky uses the riot for cover to meet with him, but she gets followed, and that sets the plot in motion.”

Jason Bourne

‘Jason Bourne′ is set for release on July 29th, 2016.

Pete’s Dragon:

Here’s our first look at the new and furry Elliott.

“Certain things about the original design we loved: Big jaw, big snout, and a clumsy quality that we really wanted to not completely forget about,” director David Lowery told Entertainment Weekly. Lowery explored the pink spikes, but the pink didn’t exactly blend in with the foliage. “From the get-go, the aesthetic was always to make everything feel as handmade as possible, including effects,” Lowery continues. “To really have it feel like a blur between a very grounded realistic world and a world in which a big green dragon that can turn invisible can exist.”

“David saw this furry, soft dragon that kids could imagine, when they go into the woods, could actually be there. There’s one video of a giant panda tumbling in his cave, and we looked at that again and again as our Elliott — this big animal who just doesn’t know what to do with his body.” – Production designer Jade Healy

Pete’s Dragon

Disney’s ‘Pete’s Dragon’ opens in theaters on August 12, 2016.

Star Trek Beyond:

Idris Elba said that his character, Krall is “predatory” and full of hatred for the federation.

Krall is a new species in the Star Trek universe. “What’s interesting about him is that he has a real beef with what the Enterprise stands for. Krall’s a character who’s deeply steeped in hatred — in my opinion, a well-earned hatred — for the Federation. It felt quite political. There’s a relatability to what’s happening in our world. Not everybody’s happy with what everybody calls the good guys.”
