SDCC 2016: New ‘Doctor Strange’ Concept Art

Marvel has released, via Entertainment Weekly, a new concept art of Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme. The image created by Ryan Meinerding, will be distributed to fans attending San Diego’s upcoming Comic-Con.

Benedict Cumberbatch addressed the similarities between Sherlock Holmes and Stephen Strange; “These two men are intelligent. Stephen Strange is a lover, he’s a materialist, he’s arrogant, but he’s got a great sense of humor. There are smatterings of the same colours that Sherlock has, but he’s not on the spectrum”.

Official Synopsis:

‘Doctor Strange’ tells the story of Stephen Strange (Cumberbatch), an acclaimed neurosurgeon who uncovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions after a near-fatal car accident. The film will show audiences corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe never before explored.

Marvel’s “Doctor Strange” is produced by Kevin Feige with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Charles Newirth, Stephen Broussard and Stan Lee serving as executive producers.

Director Scott Derrickson’s creative team also includes director of photography Ben Davis, B.S.C. (Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy”); production designer Charles Wood (Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy”); costume designer Alexandra Byrne (Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy”); editors Wyatt Smith (“Into the Woods,” Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World”) and Sabrina Plisco, ACE (“Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium,” “Charlotte’s Web”); and visuals effects supervisor Stephane Ceretti (Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy”).

Stars: Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams as the female lead, Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Baron Mordo, Mads Mikkelsen, Amy Landecker and Michael Stuhlbarg.

‘Doctor Strange’ opens in theaters November 4, 2016.
