I found myself spending my mid-afternoon time browsing through videos on Vimeo. So far I’ve watched a total of 26 videos. 😀 Don’t worry, I’m not going to post all 26, but I did narrow it down to 10. Hope you enjoy the videos. Let me know which one was your favorite!
1. “The Wishgranter” by TeamChalkdust:
Sweet and wonderful animated short!
2. “Building Hollywood’s Monsters By Hand” from Great Big Story:
Meet Tom Woodruff Jr. and Alec Gillis—they’ve been making movie monsters for Hollywood movies for the last 35 years at their company, Amalgamated Dynamics Inc. But you won’t find any computer-generated effects at this studio. Tom and Alec design and create REAL creatures with their own two hands—and they also perform them.
3. “Off the Grid on a Homemade Island” from Great Big Story:
Check out artists Catherine King and Wayne Adams awesome sustainable island fortress in Vancouver.
4. “On Target: Shooting Arrows Without Arms” from Great Big Story:
5. “House of Straw” by Kyle Bogart:
6. “The Globemakers: Craft with a Modern Spin” from Great Big Story:
This is amazing! I love that they are keeping this handmade tradition alive.
7. “Brad Bird- Playful Cinema” from The Royal Ocean Film Society:
8. “Ruben’s Elevator” from Dress Code:
“We are so many people, and yet none of us have the same situation. Isn’t that very powerful? I mean, everybody has a story. I’m watching the life. Serving the public, going up and down.”
Meet the oldest elevator operator in Los Angeles, Ruben Pardo. He’s so adorable!!
9. “Stanley Kubrick’s One-Point Perspective” from kogonada
10. “When Words Fail in Movies” from Fandor Keyframe:
Great Vimeo clips, I often forget about this one, should check it out more. I really like the Kurbick’s perspective, that was great, and the Homemade island was beautiful, I could with one of those!

Thanks! I do too. And there are some great videos on there. The Kubrick video was really interesting. That homemade island is awesome. I sometimes envy those that live off the grid. It’s hard to disconnect from technology, but they make it happen. 🙂

Yes, that homemade island would be a great refuge from our tech / media based world. Will certainly check out Vimeo clips more often now, didn’t realise they did all these insightful videos.
