If you have been a reader of ours for any length of time, you already know we are Whovians.
From the moment GiGi and I first heard of the planned spin-off, Class , we were thrilled!!
There hadn’t been much to go on, other than it’s set in the Doctor Who Universe but the BBC America panel at NYCC changed that.
As you will find out throughout this post, we went from thrilled to ecstatic!!!!
Four Coal Hill School students who have hidden secrets and desires, navigate a life of friends, parents, school work, sex, sorrow-possibly the end of existence.
Coal Hill has been a part of the Doctor Who universe since the very beginning, but that has come at a price. Time traveling of the years has caused the very walls of space and time to become thin.
There’s something pressing in on the other side, something waiting for it’s chance to kill everyone and everything, to bring us all into the Shadow.
Writer/Creator Patrick Ness and producer Brian Minchin are pictured above on either side of the cast.

Vivian Oparah as Tanya
Greg Austin as Charlie
Katherine Kelly as Ms. Quill
Sophie Hopkins as April
Fady Elsayed as Ram
The audience was very enthusiastic and greeted the cast/creators with roaring applause as they were introduced. (I guess GiGi and I weren’t the only ones excited).
After introductions the cast/creators were given a chance to tell us a bit about the show and it’s characters. Each of them seemed genuinely thrilled to be a part of it.

Panel attendees then got a very special treat with the world premiere of official CLASS trailer. I believe it must have been the first viewing for the cast because they moved from their seats to look behind them at the same BIG screen we were watching.
THE TRAILER WAS INCREDIBLE and the audience thought so as well.
When the trailer was over, the cast looked elated and shared a giant group embrace, which we were able to capture 🙂
As you can see, they were THRILLED.
The energy this cast put out was electric.
The show description, as said by creators, is that it’s set in the Doctor Who universe but more the story of what happens to this group of people when The Doctor isn’t around.
“It’s all of time and space, the possibilities are endless” ~ Patrick Ness
They couldn’t say much but it’s going to have new stories, new monsters and loads of fresh faces (ok, maybe a familiar one or two).
“It’s the best toy box in the world” ~ Patrick Ness
The audience questions gave us a chance to get to know what the cast thinks about their characters, what kind of monsters we can expect and what kind of Pokemon are in Coal Hill (which the cast were pumped to answer).
It was a short but very, very fun panel. We are looking SO forward to seeing these guys and gals take on those monsters when CLASS debuts in the States next year alongside Doctor Who.
For those interested in watching the entire panel, here it is, ENJOY!
