This, Ladies and Gentleman, is THE SHOE. Manolo Blahnik has to be the most talked about shoe brand in the entire show. Carrie is quite literally obsessed.

I decided that a nice addition to this post series would be to re-watch the show from the beginning. Within the first few episodes it is very clear that to CB, retail therapy is the best therapy.

With this post in mind, I had the crazy idea to keep up with the shoes that caught my eye as I make my way through the re-watch. I have a few apps for journaling and sketching but they don’t get much use (because I can be lazy ;)).

SOooo, instead of trying to frantically pause and photograph my TV, I decided to sketch the shoes (a la Holly in PS I Love You). I started with a template that I found and then eventually got braver. Sketches are more fun if they look like sketches, right!?

Here is a look at what I have so far…I am out of practice, so be gentle 😉

I am honestly having so much fun that I plan to keep this project going until I’m done with the series 🙂 🙂 🙂

***Ok, I am going to pause here and let those of you who know me finish rolling on the floor with laughter.

No, my friends aren’t cruel, far from it actually…they just happen to know that I don’t actually have a lot of experience with stilettos ***insert gasp***

Remember the part in the Day 1 post when I said that my fashonista is quite there yet. The more accurate statement would be “she’s got a LONG way to go”. I can probably count how many pairs of heels I’ve owned and counting how often I actually wore them is an even easier job.

It isn’t that I don’t find them a beautiful, sexy addition to my closet, it’s just that my life, so far, hasn’t taken me to places where they are best suited. Most of my jobs have involved tennis shoes and my social activities over the past decade have included hiking, camping, road trips, convention going, lacrosse watching and lots and lots of movie nights.

Another contributor to my non heel wearing self is that I got introduced to the Five Finger Shoe by Vibram about 6 years ago.

By trade, I have always spent a good deal of time on my feet and the career path I was on at that time had me slated for even more so when several roads pointed to those odd looking shoes shown above, I took them.

I ADORED them from the time I put my foot into them. Though a little tight to start with, after a few wears I no longer had the heel pain I had been suffering with for ages.

I wore these things everywhere because I had learn to trust my footing to much with minimal support, that any amount of sole, messed with my balance. In addition to the sure footing, my feet were also allowed to widen to their proper width, which also alleviated much of my foot pain.

However, that made my foot extra wide. So I was not only used to being flat most of the time, I couldn’t fit my foot in average shoe widths anymore.

I’d tried heels in the years that followed but they would wreak havoc on my calves and feet.

Once my second pair of Five Fingers had run their course, I found that I had gotten so use to the feeling of basically being barefoot that I began to simply just be barefooted as often as possible…and now

…I am basically a hobbit 😉

The SUPER cool thing about working with the muscular system for a living is that I am always looking for stretch, flexibility and mobility routines that will help my clients (most of whom dress up for work) navigate fashion choices and feeling great physically.

What I have learned is that with the right self care routine, for most of us, heels don’t have to be the enemy. Now, that doesn’t mean you should walk around Manhattan in them 😉

SO, is there hope for me to get my heeled groove on in the future, I say so.

Sadly, the Manolo Blahniks just aren’t in my price range.

I do, however ADORE the Mod Cloth clothing line and hope to own at least a pair or two of the ones pictured below before the year is over.

Regardless of what I am or am not able to do in regard to stilettos, I hope that wherever you are, you are doing your thing, Carrie Bradshaw style, if that’s your thing!

Please feel free to post photos of your favorite brands in the comments 🙂

I’m so happy you share it. I forget that writer need prompts most of the time to get the creative juices going. Maybe I’ll come up with a challenge sometime. Yes, I’m going to stick with the sketches. Too fun to stop!
