Disney Announces Cast For Live-Action ‘Aladdin’ Remake

Get ready for another live-action Disney remake. At the D23 Expo 2017, Walt Disney Studios announced the lead cast for Guy Ritchie’s live-action remake of ‘Aladdin.’

Mena Massoud, an Egyptian-born, Canadian-raised actor, will play the titular role, Mena is set to star in Amazon’s upcoming Jack Ryan series starring John Krasinski.

British actress and singer Naomi Scott, best known for her role as the Pink Ranger in the recent Power Rangers reboot, will play Princess Jasmine.

It’s official! Actor Will Smith will has been confirmed to play the Genie in the live action reboot, previously voiced by comedy legend Robin Williams.

According to THR, “Aladdin is set to begin shooting in August in London. Disney is currently on the hunt for villain Jafar, who will likely be played by a name actor. Other roles yet to be filled include the Sultan and Jafar’s sidekick, Iago.”
