‘Suicide Squad’ – Tom Hardy Drops Out; Jake Gyllenhaal Eyed as Replacement

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Hardy has dropped out of ‘Suicide Squad,’ the Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Entertainment’s comic book adaptation from director David Ayer.

Hardy’s exit is the result of schedule conflicts, in part due to filming on Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s frontier drama ‘The Revenant.’

The role as leader Rick Flagg is up for grabs and according to The Wrap, Warner Bros. is eyeing Jake Gyllenhaal to replace Hardy.

Written and Directed by David Ayer. Produced by Charles Roven and Richard Suckle. Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder, Colin Wilson and Geoff Johns are serving as executive producers.

Stars: Jared Leto as The Joker, Will Smith as Deadshot, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress. Viola Davis is still in negotiations to play Amanda Waller, while Jesse Eisenberg is still in talks to reprise his role as Lex Luthor.

‘Suicide Squad’ is set to be released on August 5th, 2016.
