Here’s our first look at Melissa Benoist in full costume as Kara Zor-El from CBS’ new pilot ‘Supergirl.’
The costume was designed by three-time Oscar winner Colleen Atwood, who also designed the costumes for ‘The Flash’ & ‘Arrow’ and whose motion picture credits include Academy Awards for her work on Alice in Wonderland, Memoirs of a Geisha and Chicago, as well as eight additional Oscar nominations for films such as Into the Woods, Snow White and the Huntsman, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Sleepy Hollow, among others.
“In designing Supergirl, I wanted to embrace the past, but more importantly, thrust her into the street-style action hero of today.” Atwood said in a statement.
What do you think of the suit?
Based on the characters from DC Comics, the project, from Warner Bros. TV, studio-based Berlanti Prods. and writers/executive producers Greg Berlanti (The Flash, Arrow) and Ali Adler (Glee, The New Normal), centers on Kara Zor-El (Benoist). Since arriving on Earth, the Krypton-born Kara has been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin, Superman. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.
Stars: Melissa Benoist as Supergirl, Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen and Lauren Benanti as Kara/Alura Zor-El, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Chyler Leigh as Alexandra “Alex” Danvers, Jeremy Jordan as Winslow “Winn” Schott, David Harewood as Hank Henshaw, and in mystery roles, Dean Cain and Helen Slater.
‘Supergirl’ is expected to premiere later this fall.

Don’t like it.The colors are too dark(Man of Steel influence?) and the emblem is not right. And why do they cover her legs?I know that CBS is pretty conservative, but still…
